• Missouri Headwaters Family Portraits

The other day I traveled to Three Forks, Montana to photograph Eliza and Drew during their Missouri Headwaters State Park family portrait session.

For this Three Forks, Montana family, there is no better way to spend a day than trail riding with their young daughter Evelyn and their horses and dogs outside.

We decided to incorporate all of their loves into one family photography session timed perfectly with the Montana Fall colors at the Missouri Headwaters.

The Missouri Headwaters State Park, just outside of Three Forks, Montana rests at the confluence of the Jefferson, Madison, and Gallatin Rivers to form the great Missouri River. It’s a historic camp where early explorers Lewis and Clark stayed during their expedition in 1805. Two hundred years later, it is still a breathtakingly beautiful spot. I love it for its diversity of cliff views, river and mountain landscapes, and ease of access for my photography clients.

It worked perfectly for Eliza and Drew’s family portraits. After unloading their horses, we enjoyed exploring the area and the gorgeous fall colors. We got lucky because the next day, it snowed.

Here are some favorite photos from their portrait session. What a cute family! Happy Fall you guys! -M
