A few weeks back I had the pleasure of photographing the Maverick Mountain Ski Resort Wedding Day celebration of John and Nora.

I first met them back in November of 2019 when they approached me to photograph their wedding day festivities. I love taking the time to discover all the things my wedding couples cherish about one another and their relationships. For John, he cherishes how Nora is such a joyous individual showcased by her near constant smiles and laughter. As an artist, singer and a lady that’s handy with a sewing machine, he loves how she expresses her creativity and her ability to hold space for him to talk about his feelings. Nora beamed about John’s sense of humor and total goofball personality. She appreciates his high intelligence that often challenges her own thinking in positive ways.

She loves that he is a man who’s actions are anchored in kindness like bringing her fresh flowers for no other reason than he was thinking of her.

While discovering all the ways their relationship elevated their lives, it was clear to see the deep loving connection between these two.

For these two geology consultants, their DIY wedding was a complete reflection of the simple things they savor in their lives.

They first met each other by chance at a Shook Twins concert in Missoula, Montana two and a half years ago. Music has been a shared love in their relationship and a theme they wanted to emphasize on their wedding day. So when this couple invited their friends and family to their favorite Montana ski mountain outside of Dillion, Montana, many their wedding guests brought along their instruments and musical chops to play bluegrass music throughout the day. It was awesome. A day spent in song and celebration amongst loved ones doesn’t get much better.

After a year delay of their wedding from the pandemic, the coup’d up energy of all in attendance was bountiful and joyous – humans, babies and dogs alike. It was an amplified wedding celebration that even the smoke from nearby wildfires couldn’t dampen the spirits of their attendees. Great conversations, laugher, great food, microbrew libations, homemade pan pies, singing, and dancing kept everyone thoroughly entertained throughout the evening. A great time was had by all.

Here are a some favorite wedding photos from their celebration. I could not be more happy for these two and it was such a pleasure to be apart of their special day. -M
